It's the aliens! There's four of them and they're disguised as humans!
It wasn't starting before! You all saw!
He must be the alien spy!
Hey! Why is his car the only one that's starting!?
This story takes place on Maple Street, USA. One day, there's a loud roar and a flash of light in the sky, and then the power goes out. Nothing works anymore, not even cars or portable radios. The residents are confused and worried.
It's the alien! I'm not gonna let the monster harm our neighborhood!
Tommy, the child of one of the residents, claims the flash in the sky and the power outage were caused by aliens. He warns them that there were alien spies within their neighborhood. At first, he's met with scorn from the adults, but when no other answer arises, they begin to believe it's true.
When the car of Les Goodman suddenly starts-- all by itself, during a power outage that was strangely causing all things, including cars, to stop working-- people begin to get scared. They start to accuse him of being the alien spy. Chaos ensues as the accusations roll along, and soon enough everyone is arguing with each other over who it is.
Understand the procedure now? All you have to do is turn off some of their devices and watch them destroy each other
Then I take it this Maple Street is not unique. We shall continue as we planned.
Due to the darkness, the residents are unable to see clearly. This causes Charlie to not recognize their neighbor, Pete Van Horn, who had gone to the next street to see if their power was working. Charlie mistakes him for 'the alien' and shoots him, killing him and their only source of information from the outside.
Charlie, no! That's Pete Van Horn! Our neighbor!
Steve is the alien!
All the residents begin to argue, and soon physically fight, each other over who the spy is. Some say it's Tommy, some say Les Goodman, some say Steve, some say Charlie. Shots are fired-- literally-- and people throw punches and rocks at one another.
Goodman is the spy!
Tommy is the alien spy!
The spy is Charlie!
The real aliens watch as the chaos unfolds on Maple Street. They mention how it was them that caused the power outage in order to see what would happen if humans got scared. They reveal that they believe humans to be the most dangerous-- the real 'monsters'-- and their plan to do this again to other neighborhoods.
Yes. We'll travel to every other 'Maple Street' on this world, and do the same thing again. And again, and again, and again.
