  • Hey mom and Dad! Why is there a tiny little stream?
  • Well sweetheart, water is a very powerful solvent which means that water is very good at dissolving things.
  • The water dissolved some of the land and created a stream.
  • Hey sis, why does ice float on water if water and ice are the same thing?
  • Well Martha, when water is in it's ice form, it is less dense than its water form. This means that the ice form will float due to it being lighter and less dense.
  • Oh yea! Now I remember! She was talking about that when she was discussing how weird water is!
  • It's so hot out here! But wait, why does the water seem so much cooler?
  • Didn't you listen to Ms. Gomez's lecture today? She said that since water has a high capacity for heat, it does not get hot as quickly as to other solutions or other living things.
