  • Boston patriots declared they would abandon their city to flames before they pay a penny for the lost tea.
  • The Colonies wanted to call a congress meeting to find a a peaceful solution to the conflicts with Great Britan.
  • In September 1774, 50 leaders from 12 colonies met in Philadelphia to solve the problem.
  • The delegates agreed to send a respectful letter to King George. The letter urged the king to consider their complaints and to regonize their rights.
  • Patriots gathered committees to enforce a boycott and, in case the boycot did not work, they also began to organize local militias.
  • Across the colonies militias marched and drilled. They stole 100 barrels of gun powder and 16 cannons from a British fort, similar theft happened in other colonies.
