Carlson kills Candy's dog. He kills the dog because he thinks it is useless. I think this is suppose to be symbolism for getting rid of things that don't help you. I also think the theme is also about getting rid of things that are useless.
This scene is when Lennie kills Curlys wife. He tried to just touch her hair but he pulled to hard and snapped her neck. This is suppose to show how dangerous lennie is. Therefore I think the theme is anybody can kill, no matter who they are
This scene is when George kills Lennie by the river. This scene is suppose to symbolize putting Lennie out of his misery because Lennie was dangerous but he wasn't intentionally. I think the theme is that even though you love someone, somtimes you need to do whats best for everyone.
