  • Buddha was born around 563 B.C. in Nepal of North India Buddha was born a prince named Siddhartha Gautama. Buddha's father was a king.  A fortune teller predicted he could either be a mighty king or a religious leader. The king wanted him to follow in his footsteps.

  • The King made sure Siddhartha lived in luxury, also he protected him from anything that wouldn't make Siddhartha happy.  Siddhartha never saw anyone poor, or sick. When Siddhartha went out in the carriage, guards made sure they were no beggars on the street.
  • Great Enlightenment
  • When Siddhartha was 29 he rode out in his carriage alone. He saw poor, sad , and sick people for the first time. He decided to run away from home.
  • Awakening the world.
  • Siddhartha ate food that people gave to him in his begging bowl. Siddhartha started to study with Hindu Gurus. The gurus taught him about salvation he was not happy.
  • Siddhartha joined a band of religious ascetics. Siddhartha started to wear scratchy clothes and he started to eat less and less everyday. He was so skinny and weak he fainted. When he woke he gained strength. He meditated for 49 days. When he finished meditating he became the Buddha. He than understood everything.
  • The Buddha freed himself from the cycle of rebirth and suffering. Instead of doing this he decided to stay back on earth and teah other what he knew.
