  • Today we're learning about cell theory!
  • It all started in 1665 when Robert Hooke discovered the cell and named it after monks' quarters.
  • u
  • Then, in 1831, Robert Brown discovered and named the cell nucleus. This nucleus was in an orchid.
  • Dark Spot        =        Nucleus!        
  • It's all CELLS!
  • In 1838, botany professor, Matthias Schleiden proposed that all plants are made of cells.
  • Theodor Schwann concluded in 1839 that cells are the basic unit of structure and function for animals as well as plants.
  • All organisms consist of one or more cells.Cells are the basic unit of structure and function. 
  • Finally in 1855, Rudolf Virchow added the third and final idea to cell theory, that all cells come from preexisting cells.
