Robert E. Lee
George McClellan was the leader of the North. Robert E. Lee was the leader of the South. McClellan was a loyal leader to his men but lacked a few leader skills but He was a brilliant organizer. Lee was loved my all his soldiers and thought to be too old to fight. Lee was against slavery but he couldn't betray his hometown Virginia, that is why he went and joined the Confederate.
The battle of Antietam started because General McClellan had gotten his hands on the Special Order 191 plan Lee had. Lee wanted to attack the Union because he thought they were weak and defenseless.
Lee had a special order 191. His secret plan was only given to General Longstreet, Jackson, and Hill. When the Generals got done reading they were supposed to burn the plan that way it couldn't get in the wrong hands. Somehow, did Lee know that one of the copies was given to the Union.
The Battle of Antietam took place in Sharpsburg, Maryland. Union general Ambrose Burnside is ordered to cross Antietam Creek but the bridge is too narrow and the creek is too deep so, they can't cross without getting shot from the soldiers on the other side of the bridge. Men were too afraid to cross, a sergeant from BK free rum to any man that will cross. After a few minutes 500 men started to go cross the bridge.
The Confederates running out of ammo, Longstreet orders them to forage off dead soldiers. When the battle came to an end the Union to the victory because they held the field and forced Lee to withdraw. Lincoln was unhappy that McClellan let the overmatched Confederate go back to Virginia rather than destroying them why they had the chance. After this event it didn't free ALL slaves
