He made the beautiful nature of the archipelago, which was inspired by Philippa, and thousands of different animals. But still, something felt incomplete.
Then he remembered that Philippa’s last wish was to have offspring. So the god made a number people on the island, who would all take care of his creation, and he treated them as his children.
And the god named this archipelago “the Philippines,” or the “Pearl of the Orient.” He watches over the Philippines from the clouds, and he is reminded his love forever.
Then one day, as the god returned to the clouds with a handful of pearls he spent hours searching for, Philippa had vanished. She was gone, forever, and the god was in despair.
As he was looking down at the sea, he saw his reflection, and he imagined Philippa back there beside him. And so, he created an island where he imagined she would be.
He made more next to it, and more, and more, until he had made 7,107 islands, forming an archipelago.
