  • Russia in WWI were very underdeveloped in war tactics and technology. They were easily defeated in many battles and lost many lives to the war.
  • Russian Civil war
  • NO!
  • Bring back Czar!
  • Due to a lack of pay and good conditions, workers began to revolt. The revolution caused the Czar of Russia to step down, and the Duma took his place. The Duma is very similar to parliament of Great Britain, and is a group of representatives making decisions.
  • Industrial and Agricultural Reforms
  • I'm in charge now and we're going to be an amazing country!
  • Many people in Russia oppose the Duma, and a man named Vladimir Lenin led a revolt so that he could take control of Russia and enforce a new government, that would include a mix of communism and democracy. Lenin and his followers are called Bolsheviks
  • Stalin's Purges
  • The red vs white civil war was a chance to bring back the Czar into Russian government. The reds supported Lenin and the bolsheviks and the whites supported Czar Nicholas II. The war ended when the reds successfully killed the new Czar and the war faded.
  • Eventually Lenin passed away and Joseph Stalin took his place as leader of Russia. Stalin supported communism and began to turn the country toward it. He promised to increase production in the country by 10x what it was when he took over.
  • Stalin would kill any person who opposed him in the government or anyone would would threaten his power.
