The Twilight Zone Mr Bemis works in a bank, Mr. Bemis wasn't afraid to read, the Bank Owner and Mrs. Bemis are the main characters that tell him he can't read.

A grown man who reads silly, ridiculous, non-nonsensical doggerel."Mr. Bemis gets talked to by his manager. His wife takes away his books. Mr Bemis hears a loud noise when in the vault. They are both telling him he can't read.
"Over the newspaper toward the watch. At this moment there's a loud rumble that grows and grows and grows until suddenly LZ,. j-t's an earsplitting, detonating, dil-consuming, giant moment of thunder."When the H-Bomb that Mr. Bemis read about in the newspaper drops.

Then the hand gropes over the book, picks it up, holds it out in front of him. The page is blurred." Mr. Bemis' glasses fell off, then broke and now he cannot read.
