Storyboard Text

  • "Thou art like one of these fellows that, when he enters the confines of a tavern, claps me his sword upon the table and says 'God send me no need of thee!' and by the operation of the second cup draws him on the drawer, when indeed there is no need" (III. i. 5-10).

  • "Am I like such a fellow?" (III. i. 11).
  • "Romeo, the love I bear thee can afford / No better term than this: thou art a villain" (III. i. 59-60).
  • Tybalt
  • "Villain I am none. / Therefore farewell. I see thou knowest me not" (III. i. 63-4).
  • Romeo
  • "What would'st thou have with me?" (III. i. 75).
  • "Good King of Cats, nothing but one of your nine lives" (III. i. 76-7).
  • "Gentle Mercutio, put thy rapier up" (III. i. 82).
  • "A plague o' both your houses! / They have made worms' meat of me. I have it, / And soundly too. Your houses!" (III. i. 106-8).
  • Mercutio and Benvolio are in a public place and Mercutio tells Benvolio that he is a very hot-blooded person and always picks a fight with everyone.
  • Tybalt comes to find Romeo and when he does, he calls him a villain. Romeo replies by saying Tybalt does not know him.
  • "Here comes the furious Tybalt back again" (III. i. 122).
  • "...for Mercutio's soul / Is but a little way above our heads, / Staying for thine to keep him company" (III. i. 127-9).
  • "Thou, wretched boy, that didst consort him here, / Shalt with him hence" (III. i. 131-2).
  • Mercutio believes they should fight to end this discussion and draws with Tybalt.
  • "Romeo, away, be gone! / The citizens are up, and Tybalt slain" (III. i. 134-5).
  • "O, I am fortune's fool!" (III. i. 138).
  • Romeo tries to break up the fight, but Mercutio is stabbed by Tybalt and dies. Tybalt runs away.
  • Tybalt returns and Romeo fights Tybalt to avenge Mercutio's death.
  • Tybalt dies and Benvolio advises Romeo to run away.
