  • The Tell Tale Heart By: Edgar Allan Poe Aneica Azimulla 11/20/17
  • The narrator introduced himself as he tries to walk readers through his byzantine thoughts, and explain his position in the situation.
  •  "...how calmly I can tell you the whole story." 
  • Exposition
  • With the narrator's antipathy towards the old man's eye he constantly watches the man while he sleeps after he decides to one day kill him.
  • "I made up my mind to take the life of the old man, and thus rid myself of the eye forever."
  • After a few nights the man wakes up frightened then the narrator made a licentious action and suffocates the old man.
  • "The old man's terror must have been extreme! It grew louder, I say, louder every moment!"
  • After the narrator was very assiduous when he hide the body and cleaned up, a complaint was made and the police came to investigate.
  • "I smiled, --for what had I to fear? I bade the gentlemen welcome"
  • The narrator languished after thinking the police suspected him off a crime, and confessed.
  • "Villains!" I shrieked, "dissemble no more! I admit the deed! --tear up the planks! here, here! --It is the beating of his hideous heart!"
