The boat is how everyone got to America if you were across the ocean. As many as 3,000 people were on a boat. This is the 1st stop to being an American, geting to America.
THE STAIRS TO THE REGISTRY ROOM
The Statue of Liberty is the immagrents sign of arrival! This is super important becuase it means they are in America. Thats a big deal fro everyvody!
The Registry Room
This is where all your belonging would go while your family and you got inspected. The baggage room is important, it where all your luggage goes.
The Medical Exam
The immigration process began on the stairs that leding to the Registry Room. Doctors stood on the second floor and watched each person. They looked for people who had trouble walking or breathing or showed signs of other health problems.
You would wait in a line to be questioned about your legal and health. If your answers did not macth what the officails had you where sent home. This is one of the big choices to wether if the get in or go home.
The medical exam room is where they exam your health. The first test was a "six-second physical." A uniformed doctor looked for any signs of illness or contagious diseases. If you where marked with a letter, you would be taken out of line and be further tested. Those without marks would move on to the legal exam.
