- In 1730, the Acadians had sworn an Oath of Allegiance to Britain. Although Acadians signed the Oath of Allegiance to Britain in 1730, they continued to supply the French forts with food and firewood. That is when Britain made Acadians sign a new Oath of Allegiance in 1755.

- On September 5, 1755, 418 Acadian men gathered in Grand Pre. to discuss their expulsion.Acadians were to leave their homes behind with only what they could carry because they continued to supply the French.

- Around 7,000 Acadians were kicked out of their homes, sent into other British colonies. (Some innocent and some who supplied the French forts.)

- Why? We are innocent, you have the wrong people!
- Others couldn't escape, or were captured and deported to other British colonies. Many died from disease or were separated from their families. They were sent to other British colonies.
