Upon cutting open the goose, THE missing blue carbuncle was found. The situation was much more serious now....
Watson and Holmes talked to some possible suspects and after making a bet with a goose salesman, he finds James Ryder.
After being 'friendly' and taking Ryder back to their place, Holmes prys at Ryder until he breaks and he explains exactly how he stole and lost the missing blue carbuncle. First, he made sure the plumber would be blamed. Second, as his sister promised him, he
got his goose and shoved the blue carbuncle down its throat. While speaking to his sister he lost sight of the goose and took the wrong one. The one with the carbuncle was then sold to Henry Baker. Luckily, Holmes and Watson let him go after he begged and promised he wouldn't do anything wrong again.
