A germ is a tiny organism that causes people to get poorly and washing your hands is the best way to stop it from spreading
You always wash and dry your hands before you cook to get rid of all the germs
1. Washing Hands
What are germs and why do we have to get rid of them?
Well, I better wash them good then
what are we doing now?
2. Cutting Vegetables
Now we are going to cut some vegetables, but don't use a knife unless a responsible adult is around. if you cut yourself hold your hand above your chest to stop the bleeding
This is really Hot, what do I do when I burn myself?
If you burn yourself you tell an adult then run it under the cold tap for 3 minutes
Before you begin, roll up long sleeves, tie back long hair and remove loose clothing that might get in the way or catch on something. Wash your hands and dry them well. Wet hands can be slippery.
Be careful mum it's still hot!!
If you can't quite reach the countertop, use a sturdy stool or wooden step to help. Wipe up spills as soon as they happen. Wet spots can be slippery. Always pick up knives by their handle and do not point them at anyone. Be sure to only use a knife when an adult is close by and with permission.
When working with pots on the stove, be sure to hold the handle while stirring to prevent the pot from slipping off the burner. Before leaving the kitchen, check that the oven and burners are all turned off. If you burn yourself, tell an adult immediately
when dishing out hot food be careful not to burn yourself on the steam, preferably ask an adult to it.
