  • This story took place on Maple Street (somewhere in the U.S.A.) Starting late in the day, and ending in the night time.
  • Climax
  • A big bright flash of light in the sky  passed over head of Maple Street at 6:43 P.M. which causes the lights to go out, as well as all the electricity. Pete Van Horn checks the other streets to see if there lights went out too.  Steve, Don, Mrs. Brand, Narrator, Woman
  • Falling Action
  • Everyone strarts to panic and Tommy begins talking about aliens from his comic books. Everyone believes there are aliens among them who live on Maple street. They begin to turn on one another and they asume different people are aliens. Goodman's car starts by itself and he is the prime suspect. Charlie and steve argue as a figure emerges from the darkness. Charlie grabs a shotgun. Steve tries to stop Charlie but it doesn't work.
  • Resolution
  • Charlie fires the gun at the figure, who ends up being Pete Van Horn coming back from the other streets. Charlie kills Pete, and Charlie's house lights go on, making him the prime suspect as an alien. 
  • The residents of Maple street try to catch Charlie and they chase him, but Charlie turns some people against Tommy. Everyone blames and suspects different people, Charlie, Steve, Tommy, Bob, Don, ext. because the lights in their houses go on. The basically all try to kill one another.
  • A space ship lands on the ground and two figures emerge from it. They begin to talk about their plan for taking over Earth. They are the ones controlling the humans and their lights and their cars.
