  • Silent Trade- trading with someone without ever seeing or talking to them. This form of trade was done with the North and West Africans The cause of silent trade was to avoid language barriers and problems they might cause This type of trade was done near bodies of water in Africa
  • Abby Foss, Taylor Webster, Ashley Chen
  • The first step to silent trade is: The middle man talks to both sides and arranges the time and place that the trade will occur.
  • It should be in 3 days at noon
  • I think the trade should be near an oasis
  • Step 2 to silent trade is: The West Africans drop off the gold at the arranged sight at the arranged time.
  • They beat a drum to alert the North Africans to come collect the gold.
  • The West Africans leave the site and travel far enough that they can't see where they just were.
  • Based on the amount of gold left, the North Africans decide how much salt to leave
