Storyboard Text

  • Did you hear about the latest news?
  • No, what happened?
  • Thomas Jefferson's nonviolence resistance to British and French was to stop trade and merchant ships trading with France and Britain
  • The Embargo Act was passed yesterday. We are no longer able to trade with foreign countries, and this will affect lots of merchants and farmers in the area.
  • This angered merchants and farmers because their crops and products could no longer be traded with the French and British
  • This is an outrage! I am a merchant!
  • Trade was important for country's economy. Britain and France had been at war since 1803, and US tried to stay neutral. Because traders and farmers made their living off of foreign trade, this angered most of them.
