When it was time for Coyote to leave, Death gave him a proposal to take his wife with him. They would travel five mountains over five days, and only on the sixth day could Coyote finally touch his wife. if he touched her before that, no spirit will ever be able to return to the living, ever again.
You can take her with you, on one condition. You must travel over five mountains over a course of five days, then she will live again. But if you touch her before the sixth day, no spirit, including her, will ever be able to return to the world of the living every again.
Thank you.... Death... So much!
In that case, can I have my feather back?
SO they traveled the five mountains over the five days, however Coyote did not wait until the sixth day to touch his wife, instead, he touched her in the darkness of the fifth night. His wife was gone, again, and now because of him, no spirit will ever be able to return to the world of the living. Ever again.
Because of you, no dead person will ever be able to go back to the world of the living.
The Coyote howled when he ran back to the open plain, he tried Deaths sequence of words again and again, but to no avail. It was his fault that no one would ever see their deceased love ones again. So he began his long walk home, where laid down in his cave, wallowing in his overwhelming grief.
What a fine group of horses there!.... There is the longhouse!.... What a fine group of horses.
