This little house is located in Okinawa, an island off the coast of Japan. This is where Tomiko, her mother, father two sisters, and brother live.
Chasing Nini the Rabbit
Tomiko's mother became very sick and saddly pasted away soon after. Tomiko says that, that is the saddest day of her whole life.
Meeting the Old Couple
On the journey, Tomiko's brother, Nini was hit by a bomb and could not be saved. Tomiko and her sisters buried him on the beach where he could be safe. Her sister promised to come back and give him a proper burial.
Finding My Picture
Tomiko found a rabbit on her journey and because it resembled Nini's personality Tomiko named him Nini the rabbit. Tomiko saw him when she was in a cave so she ran to go see him and when they ran Nini lead her away from the cave the that was exploded.
On Tomiko's journey she meet an old couple in one of the caves. The old couple taught Tomiko many valuable lessons which helped Tomiko survive.
When Tomiko was in a book store she found a book that looked interesting. As Tomiko looked through the book she found a picture of a little girl holding a white flag with the Japanese soldiers walking behind her and soon she realized that it was a picture of her.
