HERITAGE
Ara, we need to travel immediately, possibly the earliest before the week ends.
Your aunt called earlier and have told me that your uncle died due to heart failure.
Alright mom, I'll prepare our things as soon as possible.
Mom, is there something wrong? Why are you crying?
But, mom when and where would be uncle's wake be held at?
How can our ancestors commemorate the dead before if there is no coffin yet?
It would be on our ancestral home in the province.
The whole family will be there in mourning for the loss of your uncle.
In the early 1960’s in Manunggul Cave, Lipuun Point, Palawan there is a secondary burial jar found which they also called as Manunggul jar.
It is painted with natural iron or hematite and on top of the jar cover or lid is a boat with two human figures representing two souls on a voyage to the afterlife.
What does it looks like mom?
It reflects and signifies our ancestors' religious beliefs or early Filipinos in life after death.
Thanks mom, knowing our history made me understand the beliefs of our ancestors and how it differs as of today.
Yes dear and it also give meanings to our life on how our ancestors live in the past.
