  • The symbol of the story would be freedom. This would be the symbol because they are running away trying to be free. When they finally make it to Canada, they are free.
  • Allusion
  • An example of imagery would be "His clothes tattered, his feet are bare, they bleed with frostbite, does no one care?"These words help make a better picture on what the man looked like. It shows has been a slave and mistreated. Also shows that this journey was hard.
  • Tone
  • "Freedom through flight." Freedom can not actually fly. It is repeating the "F" sound.
  • Theme
  • The allusion is the star. It says "I'll follow the star, o'er the underground railroad." He is following the star to get to where he wants.
  • The tone of the poem sounds hopeful. It says "By a faith, that is free." The man kept going even though the journey was difficult. He had hope and kept going on until he reached where he needed to be.
  • The theme of the story is you have to keep trying. The man had to go even though "his feet are bare, they bleed with frostbite, does no one care?"
