  • Welcome! Is everyone ready to go back in time to the Continental Congress? Here we go!
  • The Continental Congress
  • After the Intolerble Acts, colonists knew they needed to get together and decide a plan of action. They got together Sept. 5, 1774. The first Continental Congress signed a petition to the king saying they deserved the same rights as the British citizens.
  • On May 10th , 1775 they set as the deadline to hear back from the British Parliament. Then they voted to stop all trade with Britian. They also asked colonies to form their owns militias and armies.
  • Patrick Henry was a big part of The Continental Congress also, he was apart of The House of Burgesses group too and he wanted liberty. He was famous for his 'Give me Liberty or give me Death' speech. The Houe of Burgesses was shut down when Patrick Henry and two other men spoke out against the Parliament who wanted the stamp act passed.
