Storyboard Text

  • The Arrival - Exposition
  • Uh, Hi. I'm Captain Leland Stottlemeyer of the SFPD. We're here to talk to Mr. Matthews.
  • Of course. If you'll just follow me, I'll Take you back to his room.
  • No Pain - Rising Action
  • He's on morphine so he won't be in any pain
  • Thats too bad. Excuse us for a moment
  • Did You Kill My Wife? - Conflict
  • My name is Adrian Monk. We're here to talk to you about Trudy Monk
  • I never saw his face. But I do remember, he had 6 fingers on his right hand.
  • A man payed me $2,000cash to build a bomb
  • Do you remember her? Car Bomb?
  • Adrian! Adrian! We have a lead!
  • They had come to New York for one simple reason. Talk to the man who made the car bomb that killed Trudy Monk. Three days after arrival, in which Monk had solved the murder of the Columbian Ambassador, they had finally arrived at the hospital where Scott Matthews was on his deathbed.
  • I'd Like to Be Alone With Him - Climax
  • I'd like to be alone with him.
  • It was lucky that they even got a chance to speak to him at all. Not only were they out of their jurisdiction - by a couple thousand miles, but Scott had agreed to testify in a federal racketeering case, which meant he was under protective custody.
  • Forgive Me - Falling Action
  • Forgive Me. Please!
  • Finally! After 4 years on working on the one case that was the most important to him, he had a lead! It was a wonderful! There wasn't a very big percent of the population that had 6 fingers, let alone on their right hand. Monk was one step closer to figuring out who ordered the murder of his wife.
  • For Trudy - Resolution
  • You were the husband.
  • Monk needed to be alone with the man responsible for killing his wife. Stottlemeyer, Sharona, and Randy knew that. So they left Monk alone, promising to meet him the waiting room.
  • I am the husband
  • Of course
  • How could Matthews ask for forgiveness? He was an accessory in the murder of his wife! Monk would carry the anger he felt towards this man to his grave.
  • Forgive you? This is me turning off your morphine.
  • In his heart though, Monk knew Trudy wouldn't want this. Not for her sake. And so with a shaking hand, Monk reached up and turned the morphine back on, before Turing and leaving the room.
  • And this is Trudy, the woman you killed, turning it back on.
