  • In this book, Guy Delisle travels so North Korea to expedierence the life of Koreans. He was exposed to the culture of North Koreans and and the political and social issues that they have in their country.
  • Guy Delisle explains the political and social issues of North Korea with showing the readers of his book images and collected works to make it clear that there were problems in North Korea.
  • "Uh...I like the color...it's very nice."
  • "Why do you want to take a picture of that?'
  • There was a lack of communication with North Korean officers. When Guy Delisle got to the airport in North Korea he was stopped and checked by an officer because they thought he looked suspicious. North Koreans aren't used to new things so the soldier had to ask Mr. Guy to tell him what it was that he had in his bag.
  • "Chick chick boom chick"
  • "Since that purge, which occurred a few months before our arrival, the government had toughened its stance and the country had reversed course."
  • The control of the state of North Korea has power over everyone and dictate every action. Mr. Guy wanted to simply take a picture of the building and he got stopped and questioned by a soldier on why he was taking the photo.
  • Because of the dictatorship in North Korea, North Koreans aren't allowed to listen to certain music or read certain books so when they are able to they are overjoyed. The government controls everything and they censor all kind of entertainment form the Koreans.
