Reeve meets many people on the street that recognize him. All of these people listen to his stories about Janie and anticipate what happens next. Reeve realizes that they will recognize Janie as well, so she won't be able to visit him anytime soon.
Reeve visits Janie for the day. He follows her to school and ends up telling the yearbook advisor to scrap the "milk carton" page. Janie is grateful that she can rely on Reeve.
Planning to look at colleges in Boston, Jodie, Janie's biological sister convinces Janie to join Jodie and her brother, Brian, and visit Reeve while they are in the area.
Janie, Jodie, and Brian stop at a hotel and tune into the radio. Unfortunately, this happened to be when Reeve was telling his worst tory of Janie yet. Janie distrought and Jodie furious, Brian cals the radio station to tell Reeve to come to the hotel room.
During his story, the station gets a call. The person on the other end introduces themself as Hannah (The woman who had kidnapped Janie but had been unheard from for many years). Reeve hangs up, unable to believe it's really Hannah. He then gets a call from Brian and leaves imediately.
Reeve arrives a the hotel room with Janie, Jodie, and Brian waiting for him. Jodie yells at him for sharing their private buisness like it was some kind of joke. Janie tells him to never talk to her or visit her again. Reeve leaves and goes back to the station. He grabs the tapes he recorded and throws them in a river.
