  • Description:  The Battle of fort Sumter was when confederate troops fired on a union fort stationed in the south.  Significance:Was the Beginning of the Civil War.
  • The battle of Gettysburg July 1863
  • Description: The Battle of Antietam was when lee's plan to invade the north was compromised by the union. Significance: Was the bloodiest day in all of American history.
  • The Siege of Vicksburg May-July 18
  • Description: Proclaimed that all slaves in the rebellious states are now free.  Significance:Made the war about human freedom than just bringing states back into the union.
  • Appomattox Court House April 1865
  • Description: Was the bloodiest battle in the civil war over 50 thousand people died. Significance:Was the turning point in the civil war.
  • Description: Vicksburg was sieged by the union and surrendered 20 days after giving the union control of the Mississippi river. Significance: Split the Confederacy in 2 parts.
  • Description: Was where Lee surrenedered to Ulysses s grant. Significance: Ended the Civil War.
