Lyddie is trying to stare down a bear so her family can escape to the loft to safety. This is an example of Man Vs. Nature because bears are from nature and Lyddie is the human/main character going against the bear. A quote to support this is, "Lyddie glared straight into the bear's eyes daring him to step into the cabin" (page 2).
Lyddie is having an argument with her mom which is a Man Vs. Man situation because both of them are against each other and they are both humans. A quote to support this is, "I can't stop you to go, Lyddie said, but I can't go with you. I can't leave the farm" (page 6).
This is Lyddie facing a problem because she was forced to go to church to look respectable even though Lyddie didn't want to. This is an example of Man Vs. Society by showing that Lyddie is in the role of the man and the people wanting her to go to church is the role of Society. A quote to support this is, "where will you be going to church on this sabbath" (page 57).
