A traumatic riot called Direct Action Day arose in Howrah in 1946, eight people died.
People lost everything and had to flee. Houses were looted and burnt to the ground.
Kazi Shamsuzzaman hid in a tree, his father hid in a graveyard.
They came to Dhaka, India without any money in 1947.
Shamsuzzaman finished education in Dhaka and was an Insurance Agent. He went back to Howrah, the house they owned is owned by someone else.
