For the exposition, Elie, Mr. Wiesel (his father), and Moishe the Beadle are introduced.

Elie and Mr. Wiesel are eventually transferred to Auschwitz, (a concentration camp). They later get separated from the rest of their family.
RISING ACTION BOX ONE
As yet more torture proceeds in the Concentration camps, they have a death march. Guns are loaded, ready for the Nazis to kill.
RISING ACTION BOX TWO
Mr. Wiesel was severely ill and had dysentery. He ended up dying and Wiesel´s reaction was speechless. He did not have enough feelings to cry or have anger anymore. This changed Elie Wiesel in hopes of surviving.
The Underground Resistance had weapons hidden from the Nazis and planned to win over Germany. They did succeed and due to it, Jews were able to evacuate and be set free.
Elie finally sees himself in a mirror for the first time since he was Fifteen, an entire year ago. He realized he had matued so much that it was as if his old identity no longer existed.
