The narrator is introduced as Montressor. He vows to take revenge on a man named Fortunado who betrayed Montressor.
Where is the Amantillado?
Montressor devises a plan to trick Fortunato into traveling with him so Montressor can take revenge.
Montressor begins to put his plan into place. He knows that Fortunato prides himself in his expertise in wine, so he asks if he will verify a wine that he bought at his house. Fortunato agrees, and Montressor begins to lead him through the vaults of his home. Montressor uses reverse psychology to make him belive he cares for his well being.
Montressor chains Fortunato to the wall and begins to seal him in.
As Montressor seals up the wall, and two communicate in alternating screams. When Montressor reaches the last brick Fortunato stopped responding so Montressor throws a torch in the tomb.
Fortunato will die and stay undisturbed for 50 years.
