  • I hate your tone, be ready to die!
  • Gulliotine
  • Don't talk like that, the soldier might hear. If he doesn't like what you say you can be put to death
  • Bread costs too much and I'm unhappy with the taxing.
  • Unequal Representation
  •                                          Estates
  • You could be sent the guillotine over just about anything, even referring to people with formal titles (Monsieur or Madam) instead of citizen. Or complaining or the price of bread.
  • Even though the third estate was the vast majority of the population, they only got 1/3 of the overall votes for the legislature. Pictured above is the Tennis Court Oath, where the 3rd Estate made an oath to sit on the tennis court until a new Constitution was made.
  • Result of the Tennis Court Oath
  • There were three estates in France, the 1st was nobility, they didn't pay any taxes. The 2nd estate was the Clergy and they paid 2% of their income to taxes and finally, the 3rd estate or the common people and they paid 50% of their income to taxes, making them extremely poor and sometimes it was even harder to buy things they needed to live.
