Storyboard Text

  • Let the Indian Removal Act of 1831 be passed!!! Along with this act we shall nullify any Cherokee laws.
  •   Why are all of these Americans taking our land and pushing us to the West? They are not respecting our rights as humans.
  • I am filing a lawsuit against you!!!!
  • The Cherokee Nation filed a lawsuit against the state of Georgia for making laws that affected the Cherokee nation and for taking the Cherokee's land.
  • Bring it on bro!!!!
  • Indians are savages! They are seen as a domestic nation.  We do not want the Cheorkee's on our land.
  • The Cherokee nation should be considered a sovereign nation. Why should we be removed from our land when this land belonged to our ancestors.
  • These are both true points! However, I have to rule in favor of Georgia since they own the land. This case is closed!!!!!!
  • Judge Marshall ruled with Georgia because the Cherokee nation did not possess original jurisdiction. The Cherokee Nation was viewed as a domestic dependent nation not a sovereign nation. Judge Marshall's ruling gave Georgia temporarily control over the politics and the land of the Cherokee's.
