  • Exposition
  • Main Conflict
  • Rising Action
  • Hanover River, New Hampshire. The narrator, a fourteen year old who loves to fish, has fallen in love with his new neighbor Shelia Mant.
  • Climax
  • One day the Narrator finally gets the courage to ask her on a date. She says yes, however he soon finds out that it was a bad idea.
  • Falling Action
  • He soon finds out that Shelia Mant dosn't like fishing. Also the biggest bass he has ever seen is attatched to his pole.
  • Resolution
  • Stuck deciding whether or not to let the bass go for a girl who dosn't even like him. Also using him to go see Eric Caswell.
  • That night at the fair Shelia decided to go home in Eric's Corvette, and left him.
  • The story ends with the narrator being sad and haunted by losing the bass.
