Storyboard Description

This tool is meant to connect children with their cultural diaspora outside of their own. It is meant to help them develop their language learning skills as well as see how their culture is seen in different parts of the world, and even explore other cultures. This is wire frame of the learning tool and is meant to showcase the forefront pages of the storyboard.

  • This is the main home screen of the learning tool. At this section the child is able to enter their name, choose their language and visual setting preference. This page will also allow the child to adjust sound and whether or not they need on text screen if they are hearing impaired.  The buttons for this page are four for each menu variation and are off to the bottom corners of the page so that way the buttons are more accessible to the child and tiny finger friendly.  There is also a red arrow to skip through this menu. 
  • Bienvenue! Ou est-ce que tu veux le premier voir?
  • This is the character selection and preference creation theme. Children are able to choose their learning level which grade they're in. The child is also able to customize their characters to fit their cultural backgrounds and their interpretation of how they look culturally in their current diaspora. The yellow buttons allow them to scroll through characters and the red arrows throughout the learning tool allows them to jump screens and chapters and skip through certain selection processes.

  • Diaspora selection screen. Here the child is able to choose the diaspora to explore of their culture or the language they are learning in the world. The globe in the middle is a universal button throughout the learning tool that will have the child come back to the this screen. The arrows allow the child to scroll to other countries and discover other countries and the diaspora in that country. The child is also to see a character of the same gender as them.

  • Diaspora Introduction Screen. The diaspora introduction screen introduces the certain places the diaspora character can take them. It can show their home, their community, interesting parts of their country and school. The buttons advance to each chapter of the diaspora and the globe with the arrows is to navigate back to the diaspora exploration page. 
  • Diaspora Exploration Screen. This is an example of what the guide can show the child. A video of an actual short story clip of a child living in this region will show and will show their home. The child can respond and talk with the guide about the home with prompted responses. 
  • The Activities Selection  Screen. This is the screen that the guide will show the child to choose which part of the language they want to improve on. The child has choices with the following buttons that are made large enough to cater to younger children and use interesting shapes and is colorful.
