Storyboard Text

  • One day while Jonas and Asher had been playing catch , Jonas had noticed that the apple had changed in some sort of way. He didn't know quite how to explain it but it changed. That same day he had taken the apple home to study it and hopefully figure out why it had changed, but Jonas couldn't figure out why.
  •  A couple of days had passed and the Elevens were getting ready for their ceremony, where they would be given their assignments. Jonas had felt apprehensive the day before because he didn't have any clue as to what his assignment may be.  And now, the feeling was even worse.
  • Jonas's turn had been just about to come up...but the chief Elder had skipped him! Everyone in the theater had been in silence for a brief moment when they had realized that the chief elder had skipped him. Jonas was not apprehensive anymore he was embarrassed.
  • After the chief elder had called up the last child to get their folder she began to speak again. "I know you all are startled... fearful that I have made a mistake. But don't worry, I have not. Jonas, our dear number 19 has been selected to become our new receiver of memory.
  • Soon everybody started to clap unknowingly. Then the Chief started to explain... "We officials have watched Jonas very carefully his entire life, and have realized that he has all the qualities except one to become the receiver. We believe that during his training Jonas will be able to gain this last characteristic. Therefore we have decided to select him to be our new receiver of memory. Jonas will have to overcome many obstacles when given this assignment but after observing him all his life we are certain that Jonas will be able to do this."
  • "Now if you will please welcome our new receiver of memory, Jonas!" Although Jonas still felt quite embarrassed and apprehensive, he knew that as he looked out into the crowd that he would soon become a great receiver of memory.
