  • Climax
  • Children are collecting rocks. While the entire town stops what they are doing to meet up in the middle of the town.
  • Falling Action
  • The lottery was declared open. Every house hold had one person that would draw for that house, they were called to pick a piece of paper for the lottery. Everyone is called in alphabetical order. Bill Hutchinson picked the card with the black dot, they won.
  • Resolution
  • Now that Bill chose the wining ticket, his family had to now do a smaller lottery among themselves. Bill, his mother, and his little brother had to re-draw tickets.  Each open their ticket at the same time and his mom now had the black spot on the paper. 
  • Simile
  • Now that Mrs. Hutchinson has selected the winning lottery ticket! All of the People started to collect the rocks and get ready. She pleads saying that Bill didn't have enough time to pick the card. She said that it wasn't fair, They took advantage of him because he is young, she would say.
  • All of her attempts of getting out of the prize was ignored. She was brought out to the open yard and then they began to stone her. He little boy was handed a pile of rocks to join in. 
  • The man at the park was as happy as a lark!
