My King has ordered me to come to you in search of a solution to ending the plague.
Oedipus had sent Creon (his brother in law) to ask Apollo for a cure/solution to the plague sweeping through Thebes.
There is only one solution, you must find the murder of the previous king, Laius.
Creon comes back with the news, and the people suggest the King to consult with Teiresias (blind prophet).
Tell me, what do you think of this prophecy?
You will not like my response, but you are the King's killer as well as your mother's husband.
The King got furious and accused Creon of treason.
Lies, this was all you Creon, you are by here punished.
Stop, no more, I beg of you forgive him.
Jocasta(wife), tries to comfort Oedipus by telling him there is no truth in things that were said and there was proof.
Wait, I killed someone at a cross road not too long ago.
Those words are useless lies. It's impossible because the prophecy states that his son must have been the death of him with something involving cross roads.
Oedipus went in search of the truth, only to come upon an eyewitness that proves, that he had indeed killed is father and married his mother.
The prophet speak nothing by the truth, you were once the baby I save, and today you are the same who had murdered your father and maried your mother. I saw the murder,
Oedipus came back to the castle already flabergasted, only to come home to find that his wife/mother had hung herself in the bedroom. Out of grief and anger he clawed his eyes out. He then after beind dethroned was banished out.
No! Beloved wife and mother, this is all my fault, oh why must I have existed. I don't deserve these eyes to see what I have become to myself and others.
