  • The Host pokes fun at the cook, riding at the back of the company, blind drunk
  • same old things as usual
  • What would be on today's menu
  • The cook is unable to honor the Host's request that he tell a tale and the Manciple criticizes him for his drunkenness.
  • I could really good for some good news
  • The Manciple relates the legend of a white crow, taken from a Roman poet
  • I know of a Roman poet Ovid's Metamorphoses and the tale in The Arabian Nights!
  • hmmm, The Arabian Night sounds interesting
  • I have something marvelous to tell you and you're not gonna like it! Not one bit.
  • The white crow informs Phoebus that his wife is cheating.
  • There wont be no turning back after tonight..
