When Telemachus arrives at the place Menelaos invites them to a feast where they are celebrating a double wedding. Menelaos wife Helen says Telemachus looks exactly like Odysseus and asks if he is Odysseus's son. He says yes but when they are having the feast Helen puts a drug in all of there drinks in hopes of calming their sorrows. They end up getting drunk and Menelaos starts to reminisce about his time during the Trojan War with Odysseus.
The next day Menelaos ask Telemachus why he has come to visit him and Telemachus tells him what has been happening in Ithaca. Menelaos then tells another story how on his way home he got trapped on an island and the only way he could escape was that he had to capture the god of the island. Once he did the god said all he had to do to escape was that he needed to give an offering to Zeus, but since he angered him he had to making an offering to him at the Nile River. Once that was done he asked what has been happening with his brothers. In this he learns Odysseus is captured on an island with Calypso.
Back home Telemachus's mother Penelope learns that he has left Ithaca when the person that lended Telemachus the ships demands for it to be returned. The Nanny feeling bad not telling her, tells her to go pray to Athena for Telemachus to have a safe return. Athena responds to the call by putting Iphthime in her dreams telling her Athena is watching over her son. The suitors now knowing this decide to go set sail and ambush Telemachus on his way home so they can finally get a chance in marrying Penelope.
