  • UN mediator Folke Bernadotte sought to broker a lasting peace between Israel and its neighbors after the 1948 war. ll sides violated their agreements, and the 1949 “Green Line” dividing Israel from the West Bank remains relevant to contemporary negotiations.
  • In 1978, President Jimmy Carter hosted Sadat and Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin for talks at Camp David. The talks were about two peace agreements.
  • Iraesl goes to Lebanon to help them fight for indepence. This goes from 1985 to 2000. The results of this battle is a loss for Israel and they flee ounth back to Lebanon.

  • In 2003, The United States, Russia, the UN, and the EU—the road map calls first for security guarantees followed by creation of a Palestinian state with “provisional borders.” George W. Bush became the first U.S. president to endorse a Palestinian state, calling for “two states, living side by side in peace and security.”
  • In 2009, President Barack Obama appointed George Mitchell, as special envoy for Middle East peace. Obama instructed Mitchell to "ensure Israel's security,also ensure that Palestinians in Gaza are able to get the basic necessities they need and a pathway towards longing peace.
