  • During the late 1700's, France was in an economical crisis because of the debt from the seven years war. The population had increased, people were hungry and issues with social classes and monarchy worsened.

  • Enlightenment thinkers like John Locke and Voltaire wrote and talked about ideals that the French people liked. These realizations led to the attempt to overthrow the government.
