  • Korea was split in two at the 38th parallel.The USA supported South Korea which is capitalist while the USSR supported North Korea which is communist.
  • North Korea Started the war in June 1950 by invading the South, taking over the South's Capitol, and pushed them back all the way to the Southeast corner of the pennisula.
  • The U.S. forces send troops into the Pusan Peninsula and push the North Koreans back to the 38th Parallel, almost taking over the entire peninsula.
  • China's Red Army joined the North and pushed the South Back to the 38th Parallel.
  • This action forced the South to push the North back to the border yet again, and the slightest bit past it.
  • The Korean War ended as a stalemate near the 38th parallel with a 2 mile demilitarized zone in between the two countries.
