In 1944 the german army wanted to liquidate the Lodz ghetto so Arek was sent to Auschwitz. When he arrived they put him in the line for the people that arent able to work, so Arek had to take hs chances and run to the other line.

Arek was stipped down into nothing showered and they shaved his hair. They also tattooed his number on his arm which was B7608
once i was given my number i was no longer Arek, they only called me B7608
A few weeks after going to Aushwitz Arek was chosen to be put in a block with political prisoners. The food was a little better. He was also given a better job catching fish to send to germany
in 1945 Arek could hear and see American bombers and knew the germans were losing the war. On January 18th the germans decided to clear Auschwitz. Arek and 3000 others had to walk 3 days in the snow with little food and water to a place in germany called Duchenwald
After arriving in Duchenwald I was put into a Barracks.
More than half the people taken from Auschwitz died on the way here
In April 4000 of us were loaded onto trains and wagons and sent on a one month rail journey to Thereisenstadt. Many people died on the train Arek was one of the 600 that arrived alive. They were found and liberated by the Russian armt
