1st scene: Discuss allergies and how those are caused by particles in the air from plants and trees, and that these are not harmful to us
What's in the Air?
Talk about how occasionally, because of accidents or attacks, there are particles in the air that are harmful to people
Scene 2: What kind of particles might be harmful to people? Bacteria, Viruses and Chemicals. How might they be harmful? They can make people sick, or hurt their skin or lungs if they breath it in or touch it
Scene 3: Discuss how these chemicals/viruses/bacteria are identified currently, usually after someone has already gotten sick or hurt . Setting: a lab type setting, include culture plates, microscope, scientist
Main Concept: We can use what we know about the particles in the air to identify the particle and separate the harmful from the harmless
Scene 4: Teams of scientists and engineers are working on lots of ways to figure out a better, faster way of identifying these harmful particles based on the things we know about those particles, so we can protect people. Setting: Group working setting, scientists and engineers in a team meeting of some kind
