  • The meeting of the Estates-General took place in 1789 and was summoned by Louis XVI due to the country being in a financial crisis.The First Estate (clergy), the Second Estate (nobility), and the Third Estate (peasants). The three Estate gathered in Versailles to vote on who should be taxed. instead of voting of how many people, they decided on Vote of order, meaning that the third Estate (the biggest population of the two) lost every time

  •  On June 20th the same year, the third Estate now renamed the National assembly took a pledge to stay in an indoor tennis court till the king gave them a constitution that gave equal privileges to all three Estates.

  • on the afternoon of July 14, 1789, french revolutionaries stormed the bastille. fear that once the king agreed to the constitution that he was planning an attack. they destroyed the bastille freeing people from the prison and also taking weapons to arm themselves.

  • on October 5, 1789, women marched to Versailles demanding bread. after marching to the royal palace they asked marine Antoinette. she didn't have anything they wanted so she and her family promised to follow them to Paris.

  • the reign of terror lasted from September 5, 1793, to July 27, 1794. it was caused by the french's first republic which was led by Maximilien Robespierre. He used violence against people with different opinions, he sent at least 17,000 to the guillotine. Not only that but he used this as an opportunity to kill his enemies.
  • Napoleon just at the age of 20 was eager to in an army, with the revolution still going on he had very much military success jumping to different ranks very quickly. By 1804 he had named himself emperor of the french. he reformed many things like the plebiscite which meant popular vote by ballet, which people loved!
