All the resadents thought Less was the monster when his car started even when he said he didn't understand what was happening.
Theme : Don't Jump To Conclusions
Charlie shot Pete thinking he was a monster when he didnt know for sure.
It's the monster! It's the monster!
Charlie said he knew who the monster was to get all the blame away from him while rocks are being thrown at him.
Look,look, I swear to you...it isn't me...but I do know who it is!!!!
I think that a good theme for, "The Monsters are Due on Maple Street" is, don't jump to conclusions. I think this because in a lot of parts in the story people jump and say things that they can't prove. I chose these three parts because they display that theme the most, like when Less Goodman's car started while all the electricity was down everyone started accusing him of being a monster even with no proof other than a car starting out of nowhere. Another part is when Charlie shoots the dark figure that turns out to be Pete Van Horn with no proof other than him being in the dark and not telling everyone that it was just him. The last part was when the residents are throwing rocks at Charlie and he said that Tommy was the monster just because he knew what was happening when the meteor flew by and all the lights went out. that is three reasons that I think a good theme for this story is, " don't jump to conclusions."
