What are taxes?
Taxes is the money collected from the people by governments to pay for public services. For example, there are local governments like your city who collect property taxes and sales tax that pay for those services. Every state has their own tax rate to pay for things like buildings a roads. Then there's taxes collected by the federal government who pay for things like healthcare and the military.
