In my part of the story, it all started when the narrator, Itchoua, and Le Gleo saw hordes of rats come out of the ship that had just crashed into the shore. However, these weren't any of those small, regular rats--these were deadly, man-eating rats. The three men fled into the lighthouse and closed all of the openings to the lighthouse. The three men entertained themselves by teasing the hungry rats trying to get into the lighthouse. The next day, they realized how serious their situation was. The whole place stunk really bad because of the smelly rats outside of the lighthouse. They were unable to let any fresh air in at all without letting the rats in. On the ninth day inside the lighthouse, the men decided to not light the lantern that night. Little did they know that it would only make their situation worse.
